Morning coffee.

Early this morning over coffee, I looked at this picture. . . . .

. . . . .and fell in love all over again.

I have a lot of stuff to do today. New interns in the medical clinic. Deadlines to work on. A manuscript to start. Evaluations to complete. . . . .

But that's not what's on my mind right now. This is.

This. This is what I'm reflecting on this morning. Over hot coffee and yogurt with fruit on the bottom, I am reflecting on this. . . .

This morning, I'm savoring the love that I longed for and was never sure could be. 'Cause before this, see, I wasn't lucky in love.

No, not at all.

So . . . . . instead of fretting the day ahead. . . . .instead I'm sitting at my kitchen table looking at pictures of people and places and blessings. . . . .remembering and marveling and feeling thankful. And that's it.

Nothing deeper than that.

Happy Monday.

". . . for His compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness."  ~ Lamentations 3:22-23

  1. And that is a great way to start Monday Morning. It is the simple (but sometimes hard) things that make us smile and grateful!

Have a great week Grady Doctor

  2. This is a deep as it gets. Those pictures say so much. Such love, it is a beautiful sight. Thank you for sharing this.

  3. I needed this post on this Manic Monday... "I'm savoring the love that I longed for and was never sure could be." Your Harry story always fills me with hope.

  4. I am constantly jealous of what you have and how you write about it! You are one lucky and blessed lady!

  5. Gorgeous and blessed. Yup. Excellent reminder.

  6. You are a lucky woman -- and they are blessed to have you as well.

I read this today and thought of you. You might have already seen it (and I actually saw her perform the play at a medical conference a couple of years ago-- very powerful stuff):

  7. I wonder if Mr. Manning reads your blog regularly (I assume he does) and if he realizes just how very very lucky he is (I hope he does).

May you always find joy in this picture and may he always look at you with that longing twinkle in his eyes.

  8. Sister Moon-- It so very is.

Green-eyed bandit-- You have a great week, too. Thanks.

Angella-- You are so good at doing this with your pictures. Honestly, I thought of you when I made this post. Thanks for inspiring me and for reading.

Ant-- What a difference a day makes. Miss you, Dr. M.

Superhero-- Jealous? No, be inspired. Because seriously, seriously, seriously, if it happened to me, it can happen to anyone. Just have your heart ready and then enjoy it when it comes to you so you don't miss it or lose it.

    Ann-- Yup, yup, yup. :)

Elizabeth -- Yes, so blessed we have each other.

Anush-- I mostly read my blog aloud to him. Funny, right? He feels a bit embarrassed by all my gushy-mushy about him, but allows it. He is a wonderful, selfless man who is of few words, but in those few never fails to include the ones "I, love, and you." I know he feels blessed and fortunate--through his few words but mostly his actions, he tells us so every day.

Thanks, y'all for feelin' it, too.
